Our number 2 vehicle here at High Country Adventure Tours is a late 2015 Toyota Landcruiser Prado 150 Series and up until now it has been 100% standard as it was when it left the showroom floor! This vehicle is about to set off on a tour to Western Australia for a month and it was never going to cut it in standard trim!
Starting with a blank canvas the first accessory to hit the 150 was an ARB Summit Bar fitted by the guys at ARB Somerton. We had the bar colour coded to the factory Graphite paint and could not be happier with the result!
Next it was off to Prowire Auto Electrics for some electrical upgrades. A dual battery system was installed utilising a Projecta 150 Amp Isolator, Projecta battery tray and a Marshall 100 Amp Hour battery that will ensure the fridge will continue to tick over with no fear of getting a flat battery! For driving lights we opted for Tradespec 7 inch LED’s. These lights have an output of 7200 lumens and are IP69 rated against water and dust ingress – the light output is amazing!
For towing the camper we went for a tow bar from Boronia Towbars that’s rated up to 3000kg. For powering up the electric brakes on the camper we opted for the Redarc Tow Pro Elite. It offers two types of braking, proportional and user-controlled mode. The adjustment dial slotted into one of the factory switch blanks which make it look as though it was fitted at the factory!
For up on top we went for an OCAM 2.2m x 1.1m flat alloy rack and 2.5m x 3.0m awning.
Stay tuned for which tyre and suspension combo we go for after our return from WA to tackle those tracks in the mighty High Country!
